Academia licence

SURF’s aim is to set up a system of umbrella licences for images and audio. Negotiations between SURFdirect and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (NIBG), the Dutch public broadcasting associations, and Buma/Stemra (the organisation that administers the copyright of composers and lyricists) have resulted in a licence covering material held by the Dutch public broadcasters. Thanks to this “Academia licence”, higher education has access to large numbers of older and more recent films and television programmes. The material can be accessed via SURFmedia.
