SURFFOUNDATION APPOINTS PROGRAMME MANAGER FOR ICT & RESEARCH

5/6/2010

SURFfoundation – the Dutch higher education and research partnership for network services and information and communication technology – has appointed Marc Dupuis to the position of Programme Manager for its ICT & Research platform. The platform focuses on innovation in communication about research results, using the latest developments in ICT.

Marc Dupuis is the successor to Marjan Vernooy-Gerritsen, who will now concentrate on the current SURFshare programme. Together with the higher education and research sector, the ICT & Research platform is working towards advances that include Open Access, an infrastructure for research information systems, online collaboration environments for researchers, and enhanced publications. Marc Dupuis will spend the next few weeks familiarising himself with the work, and will switch to his new position with effect from 1 July.

ICT and e-Learning
Marc Dupuis spent the past eight years as the programme manager for ICT and e-Learning at Leiden University. His positions prior to that included director of the ICT centre and the language lab at the Leiden humanities faculty and as a project manager at the University of Groningen.

National level
'I’ve spent a lot of time working at individual higher education institutions,' says Marc Dupuis 'but the interesting thing about my new job is that I can now work at national level – not just for a single institution but basically for all of them. I’m looking forward to being able to contribute to finding ICT solutions that will benefit research in higher education in the Netherlands.'
