SURFshare (previously SURF Shared Professional Services) was set up in 2010 and focuses primarily on the continuation of innovation activities that have advanced beyond the pioneering phase. SURFshare guarantees the future of innovative projects that are valuable for higher education and ensures that they can continue to provide high-quality services.

SURFshare programme
From 2008 to 2011, SURF, the Dutch higher education institutions, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) worked within the SURFshare programme to create a common infrastructure to facilitate access to research information and make it possible for researchers to share that information. After the programme terminated, the name was taken over in 2012 by SURF’s SURFshare operating division.
