Scholarly Communication - Enhanced publications
Status: Completed

The Lenguas de Bolivia (Languages of Bolivia) project focuses on developing a website to support the publication of four books on Lenguas de Bolivia. The texts of the books will be enhanced with supporting material, for example audio files and explanations of linguistic terminology.

By offering this material online, the project aims:
• to make scientific and scholarly material more accessible, specifically in Bolivia;
• to encourage new ways of using linguistic material, for example in education. The material can also be used in Bolivia to explain the value of languages that are at risk of dying out.
• to create a new set of research tools for the scientific and scholarly community that makes use of the material that will be made available.

The website will be hosted at the central research centre in the Bolivian capital, La Paz. The supporting material will be stored in the DoBeS database of the Max Planck Institute in Nijmegen and will be described (according to the Dublin Core + RDF/XML standards) in an enhanced publication. The Max Plank Institute guarantees that the material will be stored for at least fifty years.
