For the team Cooperative Communication, we are looking for an experienced Communication Advisor, with knowledge and affinity for science communication. What does the job entail?

As a Communication Consultant, you will advise colleagues on how to reach SURF members and contacts effectively through communications activities with the desired effect. You will draw up communication plans (including marketing plans) for services and/or projects and ensure that these are implemented by carrying out activities yourself and by calling in others where necessary. In consultation with various communication colleagues, you determine the appropriate form, content and channels of communication expressions and evaluate the results achieved in order to improve follow-up actions. You don't shy away from technical information and you like to immerse yourself in new innovations and difficult subjects in order to transform them into understandable messages for the target group. In short, you make science and IT understandable for a wider audience.

What are you going to do exactly?

  • You will develop (marketing) communication plans for various themes, projects and services and give shape to adequate communication for various teams within SURF.
  • You translate technical innovation projects into understandable language for various target groups.
  • You will carry out marketing communication activities for SURF services.
  • You will translate knowledge and information into messages tailored to the target groups concerned and determine, in consultation, what means will be used.
  • You give feedback on the results to colleagues and improve the actions taken on the basis of those results.
  • You do research and analyze how different target groups can be reached best.
  • You write messages and stories and carry out communication activities, but you can also draw up briefings for external agencies and direct these agencies.
  • You provide solicited and unsolicited advice to internal stakeholders.

We ask

  • HBO/WO thinking level, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of communications;
  • Thorough knowledge of content management systems (including Drupal, WordPress) and social media;
  • You are service and solution oriented;
  • You are independent and are up to date with new communication trends and developments;
  • You have excellent knowledge of the Dutch and English languages (both spoken and written);
  • A demonstrable affinity with IT, education and scientific research is an advantage.

We offer

  • A varied and challenging job for 32-40 hours (0.8 - 1.0 FTE) in an informal and collegial atmosphere with a high level of ambition;

  • This position has a salary range of € 3.267,00 to € 5.252,00 gross on a full-time basis;
  • 8.33% holiday allowance, a fixed year-end bonus of 8.33%;
  • 36 holiday days per year (on the basis of a 40-hour work week);

  • Our Utrecht office is located at walking distance from Utrecht CS;
  • Initially, the contract will be for one year, with the intention of converting to a permanent contract after one year.
