News - The second release of the SURFnet Network Dashboard is now available. This release allows you to set up light paths between MSPs (Multi Service Ports) yourself without the SURFnet NOC having to be involved. This functionality is available to all institutions with an MSP.

Users in 'infrastructure manager' roles are assessing the latest functionality: setting up light paths between Multi Service Ports (MSPs). After a test period, this functionality will be available to all institutions with an MSP.
News - The National Knowledge Network (NKN) in India is now connected to NetherLight, SURFnet's open lightpath exchange. Dutch teaching and research institutions can now exchange data at high speed with more than 1,600 universities and research institutions in India.
News - Institutions connected to SURFnet can now link their institution's infrastructure directly to the Microsoft cloud with SURFlichtpaden. SURFnet is working under the agreement that the European umbrella organisation GÉANT concluded with Microsoft. GÉANT is the first non-commercial party in the world with direct links via ExpressRoute.
News - In June, 2 Requests For Proposals (RFP) for SURFnet8 were issued: one for the photonic layer and one for the service layer. A new tendering procedure for the service layer will be launched because the number of qualified parties was insufficient for the competitive dialogue. This will not affect the procedure for the photonic layer.
News - The beta version of the SURFnet Network Dashboard is now available. It offers institutions insight into the use of the ports and services (SURFinternet and SURFlichtpaden). Later releases will also include self-service features, such as setting up light paths.
News - This year’s SuperComputing conference, SC15, was held in Austin, Texas. Together with the University of Amsterdam, University of Groningen and the Netherlands eScience Center, SURF showed what we in the Netherlands are capable of in terms of high-quality ICT services – and one way was to give a demonstration of network function virtualisation.
