  • Opening hours SURF during the holidays

    News - SURF's offices in Utrecht will be closed on Christmas Day and January 1st. SURF's offices in Amsterdam will be closed from 25 December until 1 January 2018. SURF wishes you happy holidays and an inspiring 2018!

  • Anwar Osseyran awarded HPCwire Leadership Award 2017

    News - Prof. Dr. Anwar Osseyran, member of the Board of SURF and CEO of SURFsara, is the recipient of the HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Award in the category: “Outstanding Leadership in HPC”. Each year these awards recognise the most outstanding individuals, organisations, products and technologies in the industry.

  • Erik Huizer appointed interim CEO at GÉANT

    News - Erik Huizer, CTO SURFnet, is the new interim CEO of GÉANT, the pan-European research and education network, with immediate effect. As the result of this appointment, Huizer will temporarily suspend his activities at SURFnet. Once GÉANT has recruited a new permanent CEO, Huizer will resume his position as CTO at SURFnet.

    News - The online SURF Annual Review, which gives you a look back at 2016, contains a multitude of images, videos and links to publications and interviews. The Annual Review offers an overview of the activities that took place in 2016, and the results that SURF achieved working together with the various institutions.

  • Lecture dedicated to the memory of Marianne van den Boomen

    News - On Thursday, 24 November at 5 PM the first annual Marianne van den Boomen Lecture will be held at Utrecht University. This lecture series is dedicated to the memory of Marianne van den Boomen (1955-2014), a Dutch internet pioneer who wrote on information technologies from as early as 1984.   • New datacenter maintains Dutch science's global top position

    News - The opening of the new SURFsara datacentre has meant that scientific research in the Netherlands can continue to compete with other global leaders. This is thanks to the growth options for procession power and data storage capacity.

  • SURFnet selects eight cloud providers for Dutch education and research

    News - In the coming months, SURFnet is set to sign contracts with 8 providers that will provide Dutch education and research institutions with affordable and secure IaaS cloud services. Following a major pan-European tender, Dutch institutions can use IaaS services through SURFnet for the next 4 years without needing to issue their own calls for tenders.

    News - The SURFsara national High Performance Computing infrastructure has been successfully moved to our new datacenter. All systems are back online and operating at full capacity. During the next 2 weeks we’ll be doing some final tests, but this will not affect users.

    News - For the next two years, the Groningen-based company Bossers & Cnossen will be delivering the computing and storage equipment used by Nikhef, SURFnet and SURFsara, including the necessary licences, (administrator) software, and related maintenance and services.

  • New data centre Amsterdam Science Park completed

    News - SURFsara's new data centre at the Amsterdam Science Park was delivered on schedule on 1 July by builder and developer Telecity Group. SURFsara will rent 2 floors in the 72-meter-high building for the national high-performance-computing infrastructure.
