News - Suppliers who want to connect to SURFconext are now able to choose from two open standards for their technical connection: SAML and OpenID Connect (OIDC). There are more default implementations that use OpenID Connect, making it easier for services to connect to SURFconext. The first supplier is already connected.

News - eduTEAMs, the group management service for international collaboration that was launched by SURFnet in 2014, is being transferred to GÉANT, the European collaboration organisation for research networks. This makes eduTEAMs more available to international users. GÉANT is still looking for institutions who want to test eduTEAMs.
News - Researchers and other employees at education and research institutions can use Amazon Web Services without having to pay for data transport. Amazon has decided to abolish its data transport fees following discussions with the GÉANT cloud team. SURFnet is part of this team.
News - The Dutch education and research sector has its own authentication infrastructure with SURFconext. SURFconext is not enough for the healthcare sector. University Medical Centres work with healthcare providers outside the SURFnet target group who cannot use SURFconext. SURFnet explored the possibilities of a ‘ZorgConext’ and wants to launch a pilot.
News - The number of users of the SURFdrive personal cloud storage service are rising dramatically as more and more institutions choose the service. Esther Hammelburg at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is the 10,000th SURFdrive user. The start of the academic year has also seen a significant rise in use.
