Stronger cooperation in cybersecurity incidents

In February 2020, SURF and five partners signed a covenant to work more closely together in the National Response Network (NRN). The covenant contains agreements on collaboration in the event of cyber security incidents.

Further strengthen incident response

The NRN has existed for almost six years, but with the covenant it has been made official so that these parties can work together even more powerfully. The goal is to bundle the knowledge and capacities of the participants in the event of large-scale cyber incidents, thereby further strengthening the response to this type of incident.

Sharing knowledge and capacity

The NRN is an initiative of the Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) of the Information Security Service of the Dutch municipalities (IBD), the Tax and Customs Administration, SURF, the Ministry of Defence, Rijkswaterstaat and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

As trusted partners, they exchange information and knowledge and, where possible, share scarce specialist capacities at times when one or more participants need this. In this way, the sector and they help each other in case of calamities and share casuistry on a regular basis in order to learn from each other and further professionalise the CERTs.
