Access to services
A number of institutions already offer direct access to SURF services via an RCCS contract. You can then obtain access to compute power and data services, easily and quickly, via your IT department or Research Support Office. Another option for researchers is to request computing time at SURFsara via NWO.
Would you like more information about how to access computing and data services?
Download pdf Access to research infrastructures (update of document planned in Q2) for an overview of compute services and conditions to obtain access. For more information about options available to researchers, please contact us via email@example.com or simply fill out the online form to obtain access.
A number of institutions already offer direct access to SURF services via an RCCS contract. Researchers at VU Amsterdam, UvA, Tilburg University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and a number of faculties at the Technical University of Delft already have fast and easy access to processing power and data services via their IT department or Research Support Office.
You can also request computing time via NWO. For pilot projects up tot 100,000 core hours on the Lisa Computer Cluster, up tot 500,000 core hours on the National Supercomputer Cartesius and for large projects more than 100,000 core hours on the Lisa Computer Cluster and more than 500,000 core hours on the supercomputer.
We will be happy to assist you by referring you to the appropriate helpdesk for access to our services.

Integrating the SURF service portfolio into your institution?
Would you like to integrate the range of services for researchers offered by SURF with the services offered by your institution? This will allow you to offer researchers at your institution 1 central research support desk for ICT services. Then please contact the Support4research team via firstname.lastname@example.org.
The most important goal of the Support4research project is to ensure that the support provided by SURF meets the needs of the research community at education and research institutions.
Direct and structural access via an RCCS contract
Research Capacity Computing Service (RCCS) is the SURF insourcing service unit that directly connects computing systems to the institutions connected to SURF. Via RCCS, institutions can offer their employees direct access to the computing systems and SURFsara expertise. In order to do this, institutions buy credits beforehand.
