Data management & processing
What does SURF do with data management?
As part of national and European open science initiatives, many research institutions are looking for ways to process, analyse and share research data in a secure and controlled way. We help here by initiating projects that involve processing and analysing large and complex amounts of research data, as well as sharing and accessing it securely. In doing so, we research new technologies, share knowledge and develop new services. This is how we strengthen the innovative power of our members.
In these projects, we bring together demanders and providers of data. These include CBS and the Royal Library, institutions and communities such as Health-RI and ODISSEI, among others. Third-party (commercial) parties are also interested in participating in the projects.
Exploring and validating new technologies
Several projects bring together needs and new technologies in data processing and data management. We research and validate these new technologies, including in proofs of concept and pilots. And we cooperate in a targeted way with research groups of SURF members. This gives us insight into the impact and potential added value of new technologies.
Sharing knowledge and developing new services
In these projects, we gain new knowledge about the requirements for future facilities and support. We share this knowledge with members. We also potentially create new services and/or additions to existing services from SURF's service portfolio. In this way, we strengthen the innovative power of both the SURF members and the SURF organisation.
