Cloud & edge
We all use the cloud, and the cloud also offers many opportunities for research and education. From distributed computing and storage to enabling "AI at the edge", we explore new cloud technologies, trends, architectures and solutions.

The coolest thing about edge computing is that we have an edge computer in our pocket, which is our smartphone.

Multi-Cloud

Autonomy is an important public value. The Multi-Cloud Capabilities project explores solution architectures to enable autonomy and reduce the risks of vendor lock-in.

Together with institutions, we ensure that the education and research community has access to the best and latest IT facilities for top research and talent development. Cloud-native patterns enable the cloud delivery model. These patterns are crucial for achieving non-functional requirements such as scalability, elasticity and resilience - and are the basis for composable services and the way to implement system integration to achieve Multi-Cloud capabilities.

We experiment and validate orchestration tools (e.g. "Kubernetes") to bridge the gap between traditional models and the dynamic nature of the cloud. Our view of "cloudification" is not just about migration - it is about the intention to adapt cloud behaviour and interfaces to non-cloud-native solutions.
