“We are looking forward to expanding what’s possible for our users, and leveraging collaboration across the Dutch research community.”
Explore Next-Generation AI, Storage, and HPC Solutions with SURF’s Expanded Exploration Platform
Advancing data storage, computing and AI
Our exploration platform offers members of SURF access to an open, collaborative research infrastructure to explore emerging technologies and workloads. The main objective of this new testbed is to explore, evaluate, and understand various storage technologies that will shape the future of research. Researchers, developers, and IT engineers will be able to test a variety of software-defined storage solutions.
Better visibility into energy use
These test opportunities will lead to valuable insights for advanced computing and data-driven science, helping guide future decisions in system design. A key focus lies in optimising performance for HPC, AI, and large-scale data processing workloads. Another important outcome is better visibility into energy use. With advanced monitoring and telemetry tools, the platform enables smarter, more sustainable choices around energy efficiency.
Collaborating partners
The expansion is being realised with help from Dell (main provider and delivery lead, contributing four compute servers), AMD (supplying processors), and Kioxia (providing storage drives).
Invitation to co-create
If you work at a SURF member institution, we invite you to actively get involved in this effort! By contributing use cases, taking part in benchmarking, and helping analyse results. SURF’s Experimental Technologies Platform is supported by an expert team of system administrators and advisors. Interested in co-creating? Please share your innovative challenges with us.
