Privacy speech 2025: Never a break?

How do student tracking systems define the school life of schoolchildren? Is this technology disrupting their lives? During the annual Privacy Speech, schoolchildren talk on stage about what this is doing to them. The question of whether we should exclude parents from these systems will also be discussed.

When is school 'out', when you as a student can get a push notification at any time? Or when, as a parent, you can watch everything you do at school? When, as a parent, you know the grade for maths before your child does? Is sneaky truancy still around?

Moderator Stijn Uittenbogaard

Moderator of the evening is Stijn Uittenbogaard, economics teacher at the Herman Jordan Lyceum in Zeist. He made national news with his experiment to ban parents from student tracking system Magister.

About the Privacy speech

The Privacy speech is an annual event organised by SETUP and SURF that provides a podium for individuals who take an innovative look at the social consequences of technology. How does new technology help, guide or limit us? The privacy speech is in Dutch.

For this tenth edition, SETUP and SURF collaborate with Landelijk Aktie Komitee Scholieren ( LAKS).
