Workshop Privacy Risks & Assessment

Would you like to take a practical approach to privacy risks? SURF’s Privacy Expertise Centre is organising a privacy workshop where you will learn how to determine the risk level of a data processing operation. We will also cover the process-based approach to privacy assessments.

Strengthen your risk management approach during this interactive workshop, whether you’re dealing with a standard privacy assessment (SPB) or the more comprehensive DPIA. Together with privacy professionals, you’ll delve into a practical case study to apply (parts of) the risk assessment process in a concrete and effective way.

We’ll focus specifically on risks to data subjects. We’ll explore the various ways of identifying risks using different risk models. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to learn from one another and share approaches and experiences.

The workshop will be led by Jonas Folkers (Folkers Law) and Helma de Boer (SURF PEC) and will be in Dutch.

What will you learn?

You will learn to assess the risk to data subjects in a more objective and reasoned manner. Discover a pragmatic approach, learn from one another, and strengthen your skills in an inspiring setting where collaboration and knowledge-sharing take centre stage.

Prerequisites

A basic understanding of data protection legislation and some experience with, or insight into, the DPIA process is important for participating in the workshop.

Who is it for?

For privacy professionals working at educational institutions affiliated with SURF.

This workshop is specifically intended for those who assist and advise colleagues on privacy risk assessments, such as privacy officers, privacy coordinators and others who guide or support colleagues or are responsible for carrying out such assessments. However, this workshop is also of interest if you carry out privacy risk assessments yourself. The workshop will be conducted in Dutch.

The workshop focuses on the privacy risks associated with the processing of personal data within a process (if you have a specific case study, please bring it along for discussion). The workshop does not cover the assessment of applications or tools for compliance (Privacy by Design)however, you will be provided with guidance on the software privacy assessment.
