MORIS Pilot

MORIS (Modular Open Research Information System) is a flexible, modular and open system for managing and sharing research information at universities of applied sciences. It is designed to enhance the visibility of practice-oriented research, facilitate sector-wide sharing of research information, and promote digital sovereignty.

For and by the sector

Universities of applied sciences have an ever-increasing need for a flexible, modular and open system for managing and sharing research information and metadata. This is driven by the growing demand for accountability, visibility and the reuse of information from practice-oriented research. Current developments surrounding digital sovereignty and the principles of the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information also play an important role.

MORIS is being developed for and by the entire sector. The pilot is funded by all universities of applied sciences, with three such institutions participating in the pilot. At relevant stages, we will seek input from key stakeholders, drawing on a variety of perspectives.

The research project as the starting point

MORIS will become a structural building block for research registration, encompassing both process support and information access. The research project serves as the starting point here. By recording the information during the course of a project, we embed up-to-date information within the primary process.

In the MORIS pilot, we are making it possible to record project information in a way that is open, sustainable and uniquely searchable. The motto ‘create once, reuse often’ is central to this.

Duration and participation

The MORIS service pilot is expected to run until 1 September 2027. We are working closely with the following universities of applied sciences:

Other universities of applied sciences also take part in regular sessions. In these sessions, we gather input for both the development of the pilot and the further development of MORIS.
