Workshop

Workshop: The future of collaboration – session 2

In this second workshop in a series of three, we look ahead to 2035. How will researchers, lecturers and learners be working together within and across institutions by then? And what does that mean for the digital collaboration environment that makes this possible?

Digital collaboration is a fundamental requirement in education and research. Emerging technologies such as AI and XR are set to radically transform the way we work and learn, both in practical and social terms. What do these developments mean for the interaction between researchers, lecturers and learners? What will collaboration look like in 2035?

In this workshop, we will use futuring as a method to look ahead and develop a shared vision of the digital collaboration environment of the future. What is needed to collaborate securely, with control over our data and on our own terms, both within our own institution and with other institutions?

Sign up, join the discussion and contribute your ideas to the future of digital collaboration. The workshops can also be attended independently of one another. Even if you did not take part in the kick-off, we warmly invite you to sign up.

Part of the Nextcloud pilot and follow-up sessions

This workshop is part of the Nextcloud pilot, in which we explore the technical and organisational possibilities of an open collaboration environment under our own control within the SURF cooperative for Dutch education and research institutions.

This workshop is the second in a series of 3. In the kick-off session, we were introduced to the methodology of future thinking and considered the context in which we collaborate digitally; this includes both socio-economic and technological developments. In this second session, we will formulate a shared vision for digital collaboration. During the third and final session in this series, scheduled for 27 October, we will identify concrete steps to put the formulated vision into practice.
