Quamtum computing episode 1: Noise and risk
Quantum computing. If it comes, it comes hard and fast... If... In this first episode of the series Until here and beyond, we look for the beginning. Niels dives back in time with Ronald de Wolf, professor of Theoretical Computer Science at the UvA and researcher at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI).
With 25 years of experience in quantum algorithms, quantum complexity theory, quantum learning theory, among others, Ronald de Wolf is an undeniable expert in the field. He takes us back to the very beginning, talks about the key figures, the booming 1990s and how he copes with the disappointments that inevitably accompany slow developments. But there is also hope. Hope that ensures he continues unabated for the next milestone in quantum computing.
