New phase of the European Digital Education Hub
EDEH brings together education experts in Europe and beyond to tackle the current fragmentation in digital education. It is working on policy, research and examples of implementation at European level.
Within EDEH, the Higher Education Interoperability Framework (HEIF) working group is working towards a future in which data can move easily between education and learning systems, with a focus on virtual cross-campus environments. This will allow students to move freely between institutions, with institutions and universities collaborating without hindrance.
From plan to practical implementation
One of the initiatives SURF is undertaking within HEIF is the organisation of online clinics. The aim is to support the practical implementation of interoperability within European university alliances and to identify concrete success stories. Although many institutions have already made significant progress, these clinics offer tailored, hands-on guidance, combined with peer exchange and expert support.
Focus and follow-up
Each clinic brings together a small group of alliances for targeted collaboration, focusing on one of these three Interoperability Essentials: Discovery, Credentials or Student Identity. The programme consists of three online sessions spread over a few months, supplemented by follow-up support and direct contact with experts.
The clinics are offered in two series: the first cohort starts in May, the second in September 2026. You can register via this form: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/HEIO_Online_Clinic.
