We all use the cloud, and the cloud also offers many opportunities for research and education. From distributed computing and storage to enabling "AI at the edge", we explore new cloud technologies, trends, architectures and solutions.
The coolest thing about edge computing is that we have an edge computer in our pocket, which is our smartphone.
European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs)
The European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) programme is a driver of digital innovation for small and medium-sized enterprises. SURF participates in this track through a collaboration with the Maintenance Lab of the University of applied sciences.
In the programme, companies contribute use cases and work with students to develop innovative ideas. SURF's role is to build and share expertise in cloud and edge technologies and artificial intelligence.
For example, SURF has explored the ability of public cloud providers to operate and manage a fleet of edge devices in the Smart Bikes project. This directly contributes to SURF's ability to drive Internet of Things projects using modern digital tools.
