Share your vision on data-intensive science in Europe

An open consultation on the future of data-intensive science has been launched through the European-funded SPECTRUM project. Relevant scientific domains include high-energy physics, radio astronomy, life sciences, and earth observation science. SURF is one of the partners in this project, alongside organisations such as EGI and CERN. The deadline for feedback is 31 January 2026.

With these activities, SPECTRUM delivers the vision, objectives, investment areas, and a roadmap for data-intensive science and infrastructures. The aim is to collect feedback on two documents: the draft Strategic Research, Innovation and Implementation Agenda (SRIDA) and the accompanying technical blueprint. The main focus of the project is as follows:

  • Collaboration: pooling the efforts of research infrastructures and e-infrastructures to address shared research and innovation needs in the area of exabyte-scale computing.
  • Identifying use cases: identifying relevant use cases, along with associated challenges and opportunities.
  • Landscape analysis: gaining insight into the landscape and best practices.
  • Fostering collaboration in service delivery: collaboration in service delivery by e-infrastructures at national, European, and international levels.
  • Strategic action: reaching agreement on strategic action pathways, specific actions, and policy recommendations.

The documents and survey form for providing feedback can be found via the special SPECTRUM website. Thank you for your contribution!
