Building flexible and open education together

Four education services now structurally available for mbo, hbo and wo

An important step for higher education: the SURF services edubadges, SURFeduhub, edusources and SURFsharekit are now structurally available via the sector service packages for senior secondary vocational, higher education and university education. This makes it easier and more economical to share knowledge, issue microcredentials and use OERs.

What does this mean for you?

  • Mbo-institutions get access to four new SURF services.
  • HBO and wo institutions expand their package with edusources and SURFsharekit.
  • Lower costs per institution through collective purchasing via the sector.
  • Getting straight to work with OERs, microcredentials, knowledge sharing and data exchange.

Stronger together: sharing knowledge across sectors

By including these services in the sector service packages, sustainable knowledge circulation becomes a reality. From the publication of open educational resources to the safe storage of theses, learning materials or other knowledge products - institutions thus take joint steps towards flexible, future-oriented education.

Think about:

  • Edubadges: issuing microcredentials.
  • Edusources: search for and share open digital learning resources.
  • SURFsharekit: storing and publishing knowledge products.
  • SURFeduhub: data exchange via standardised links.

Shared responsibility

It is not only about technology, but also about vision. By including these services together, institutions give concrete expression to their shared responsibility for an agile, innovative education system that meets the needs of the learner.

Based on practical experiences

The decision to include the services in the packages comes from positive experiences in previous pilots, such as the scheme Open Up of Npuls and the pilot microcredentials mbo. The structural availability is therefore a logical and necessary next step.
