This year, it’s all about your role in shaping the future of education. The theme of the SURF Onderwijsdagen is ‘Your Onderwijsdagen’. Whether you’re a policy adviser or an education professional, this is your chance to inspire, learn and actively contribute to the innovations of tomorrow. This year, we’re putting you at the centre, because we believe the best solutions emerge when everyone shares their expertise, experience and creativity.
Here's why you won’t want to miss the SURF Onderwijsdagen 2026:
- An engaging opening keynote: Felienne Hermans on digitalisation, programming and AI. In her research and lectures, she explores questions such as: ‘How do we ensure that everyone can make informed decisions in a world increasingly shaped by software?’ This year’s theme is ‘Your Onderwijsdagen’, and it is about time we found answers to this question.
- Closing session and masterclass by the Kikid Foundation: the digital school through pupils’ eyes. This masterclass places young people’s perspectives at the heart of educational innovation and digitalisation. During the SURF Onderwijsdagen, young experts will use short, powerful scenes to illustrate how digital developments, pressure to perform and social dynamics intersect in their everyday school lives.
- Philosophical keynote by David van Reybrouck: David van Reybrouck has been appointed ‘Thinker of the Netherlands’, the new title for the ‘Thinker of the Fatherland’. At the SURF Onderwijsdagen, van Reybrouck will join us in looking to the future. He will discuss what we in education can learn from the natural world – such as the many technological developments that are already based on the intelligence of nature.

Learning, exploring and connecting during the day and in the evening
During the SURF Onderwijsdagen, you can take part in sessions during the day and enjoy an evening programme as well. During the day, you’ll attend sessions, discover real-world examples and apply digital developments to your own teaching practice. In the evening of 10 November, the event will conclude at Amare with an exclusive dinner, where you can network and find inspiration in a relaxed atmosphere.
