SIG meeting Compute Resources for Life Science Research
Date: 23 NOV 2016
On 23 November 2016, the fourth special interest group meeting 'Compute Resources for Life Science Research' (CRLS) took place. This special interest group (SIG) was initiated in January 2015 to discuss requirements, use cases and models to scale out compute resources.

Since the start of the SIG Compute Resources for Life Science Research (CRLS), SURF and the Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences (DTL) have been sharing ideas, expertise and working together on different aspects related to high-performance computing. During this meeting different speakers from the life sciences present the current state of affairs within the NFU Data4LifeSciences WP7 working group and particularly focus on recent developments and progress made in relation to setting up a federated authentication and network infrastructure for HPC facilities and sharing data and software. In addition, we presented and discussed how to use Docker for pipeline virtualisation and using WDL and Cromwell for creating and sharing reproducible compute pipelines.
