Here you will find the frequently asked questions about the SURF Security & Privacy Conference. If your question isn’t listed here, please contact us at spc@surf.nl.

Registration and cancellation policy

Can I pay by invoice?

Yes, you can pay by invoice by logging in via SURFconext.

Can I cancel my ticket free of charge?

This is possible up to three weeks before the start of the SURF Security & Privacy Conference. After that, the cancellation policy applies.

Tip: if you are unexpectedly unable to attend, ask a colleague to go in your place. They will then take over the entire ticket; unfortunately, it is not possible to share a ticket. Please let us know who will be attending in your place via spc@surf.nl. We will then ensure that a badge with the correct details is ready for them.

Can we sign up as a group?

No, that is not possible for the SURF Security & Privacy Conference. We recommend that you make use of the option to pay by invoice.

Location and accessibility

Where is the SURF Security & Privacy Conference being held?

The two-day SURF Security & Privacy Conference will take place at Leiden University, at its The Hague campus:

Spui University Campus
Spui 5
2511 BL The Hague

Accessibility

  • Public transport

The venue is easily accessible by public transport. From The Hague Central Station (Rijnstraat exit), it is approximately a 10-minute walk to the Spui Campus. The Spui Campus is situated on a busy street with a cycle path running alongside it. The tram also stops right outside the entrance. So please take care when walking along the Spui.

  • Parking

Leiden University does not have its own parking spaces at its locations in The Hague. Please visit the website of The Hague City Council for more information on parking. The nearest car park is Q-Park Grote Markt (from €15 per day). Due to limited parking facilities, we recommend travelling by public transport.

Is it possible to stay overnight?

You are responsible for arranging your own accommodation. Hotel options include: Moxy The Hague, Novotel City Center, and Holiday Inn Express The Hague – Parliament by IHG.

I’ve got a suitcase with me; is there somewhere I can leave it?

Yes, there is a space available. The room where suitcases and bags can be left is also the organisation room: 1B.02. It cannot be locked, but there is usually someone on hand to keep an eye on things. There is plenty of space to store your suitcase or bag safely.

However, there are lockers available throughout the building. You can use them free of charge by setting your own combination. The lockers are not large enough to store a suitcase, but they are certainly suitable for valuables such as a laptop.

Venue for the dinner on Thursday evening

Dinner on Thursday evening will be held at the Wijnhaven building, a 7-minute walk from the Spuicampus, the conference venue. Lunch on Thursday and Friday will also be served at the Wijnhaven building.

You may only attend if you have registered for this when signing up for the conference. We will check your registration before the dinner begins.

During the event

Event app

You can use the Yellenge event app.

The app contains all the details about the programme, the speakers and the venue.

  • Mark sessions as favourites

For each session, you can see how many people have marked it as a favourite and how many places are still available. This helps you gauge whether there is still room to take part.

Note: marking a session as a favourite does not mean you are registered. It simply allows you to create your personal programme within the app.

  • Rate sessions

Share your feedback after each session to help us further improve the experience.

  • Make your profile visible

If you make your profile visible and mark sessions as favourites, other participants can see which sessions you plan to attend. You can then see who else is joining the session and who might be interesting to talk to.
