Innovation zones

In the coming years, the SURF organisation will work with members to increase the quality of education and research using ICT innovation. We will do this in 9 innovation zones.
Towards a more transparent SURF service

In 2020, we launched 1SURF. While all our services - think of the SURF network, the supercomputer and all the joint procurement and tendering processes - continued as usual, we set up a renewed organisation. As a result, we are now delivering a number of service harmonisation projects.
SURF's portfolio of services

Within SURF, we develop ICT services for education and research. SURF members and other institutions from these sectors can make use of our services. Read how we can help you further improve your education and research with ict.
Compliancy

Through SURF, the members make joint agreements with ICT and content suppliers on the supply and purchase of products and services. In this way, the members jointly ensure scale and an efficient point of contact for suppliers. Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) are part of this.
Public values

Educational and research institutions are working hard to provide students and staff with a secure digital environment. They face a dilemma: how do they ensure security, autonomy and inclusion while growing dependence on dominant commercial parties?
SURF and CSR

SURF works on developments that are important for future generations. That is why we want to contribute to sustainability in the education and research sector. In addition, sustainability is an integral part of our services. We have an ambitious corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy.
Working with architecture

With a common information strategy, SURF helps institutions collaborate on the design of information provision.
Working with open source

SURF wants to improve education and research with ICT. In doing so, we want to remove barriers in functional possibilities, accessibility and collaboration. That is why we work on digital openness: open access to research results, learning materials, standards and programme code (open source).
SURF Open Innovation Lab

To meet all the challenges in research, education and society, innovation is crucial for SURF and its members. The SURF Open Innovation Lab (SOIL) brings together all activities and experiments in early innovation and open collaboration. We do this together with institutions and companies.
