About HALON

HALON (Hack Al het Onderwijs in Nederland) is a hacking event for education, by education. With your team of up to three people, you will search for vulnerabilities in the open IP ranges and domain names of various Dutch educational and research institutions in secondary and higher education. By finding vulnerabilities, you will contribute to the cyber resilience of these institutions. The organisation is in the hands of SURF, the ICT partnership for education and research. We ensure proper handling of found vulnerabilities.

For whom?

HALON is intended for students and staff at universities, colleges and vocational schools. It is useful if you already know your way around IT systems, but you are also welcome if you are not so experienced.

HALON warm-up: 9 October

For students, staff and lecturers who have already mastered the basics of ethical hacking, we are organising the HALON warm-up on 9 October. During this online session, you will get practical tips to detect vulnerabilities faster and report your findings clearly. In addition, a participant from the previous edition will share tips & tricks.
